Top Ethanol Stocks to Buy as Government Scraps Duty on Higher Blends Till E30

Helsingin said the government has decided to remove excise duty on ethanol mixed petrol up to E30. The change of policy will be a boon to those ethanol producers and blenders and is going to be great news to investors.

The finance ministry’s notification confirms that petrol blends such as E22, E25, E27 and E30 will now be exempt from excise duty. This is part of India’s overall energy transition strategy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, cut carbon emissions and support farmers by creating demand for sugarcane and other feedstock used in ethanol production.

For ethanol producers and related sectors, the duty waiver may lead to better margins and higher demand. Oil marketers would buy ethanol blends faster and sugar mills and distilleries will benefit from more profits. Analysts say this policy change could make ethanol‑blended petrol available to consumers and thus increase the adoption rate across the country.

The companies with a good ethanol portfolio will also benefit the most from an investment perspective. Firms focused on the production of sugar, distilleries and integrated energy businesses will benefit from the windfall from the waiver.
The waiver also boosts India’s ethanol economy, which has already grown significantly in recent years with a rapidly growing ethanol industry and that of India, which is already in line with the government’s goal of 20% ethanol blending by 2025 and higher levels thereafter.

But experts emphasize that infrastructure readiness and vehicle compatibility remain critical challenges. While a policy is a strong factor, for ethanol adoption to work successfully, the policy will also be driven by a coordinated approach between policymakers, industry and consumers.
Investors should also monitor global crude oil prices and domestic supply chains (and how these factors shape ethanol expansion) since these will be the factors for both.
