ESDS Software Shares Make Stellar Debut, Deliver 76% Premium Over IPO Price

ESDS Software Solutions became the first company to make an instant and huge debut in the Indian stock market, listing at more than 76% on the NSE. The company’s IPO attracted an overwhelming response from investors as it was subscribed 136 times.

Shares Gain 76% Premium on NSE

ESDS Software Solutions shares were listed on the NSE at Rs 757 per share (76.46% premium to IPO price of Rs 429 per share) on Tuesday. The company had fixed the IPO price band at Rs 408-429 per share, with the upper end of the band being the IPO price.

The strong listing performance exceeded expectations in the grey market, with ESDS Software shares having indicated a potential listing gain in the range of 57% to 72% before the stock market debut.

Great debut on BSE.

ESDS Software Solutions also made a great debut on BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange). It was priced at Rs 746.30, which is 73.96% higher than the IPO price of Rs 429.

The company’s market capitalisation was around Rs. 8,747.45 crore after the strong listing, and there was strong investor interest in the technology-focused company.

The listing performance is particularly important considering the intense demand during the IPO subscription period. With the issue attracting subscriptions of around 136 times, expectations were already high ahead of the listing.

Listing Gain Breaks Out of the Grey Market.

Before the official stock market debut, shares of ESDS Software were also trading at a premium in the grey market. There were indications that investors could see a listing gain of 57% to 72%.

But the actual NSE listing premium of 76.46% was at or above the high end of those expectations.

Investors who were allocated shares in the IPO and held their shares through the listing process had high gains on the first day. An investor who received shares at the upper IPO price of Rs 429 and listed them at Rs 757 on the NSE would have seen a big increase in the value of the shares they were offered.

As well as a good debut, the strong performance is also indicative of the appetite of investors for technology companies that deal with cloud computing, cybersecurity, data infrastructure and digital transformation.

What does ESDS Software Solutions do?

ESDS Software Solutions is in the technology and digital infrastructure space. The company is an AI-enabled cloud, managed services, data centre infrastructure and software solutions provider.

Its business is focused on several rapidly developing areas of the Indian technology ecosystem (including cloud computing, data centre infrastructure, cybersecurity, digitalisation).

The demand for technology services with secure and scalable services for businesses across sectors such as cloud and digital platforms is growing as they move toward cloud-based infrastructure and digital platforms. ESDS will be involved in this, through cloud services, managed infrastructure, and software solutions and will be able to participate in these opportunities through its mix of cloud services, managed infrastructure, and software solutions.

As the cybersecurity and data protection issue has become more and more important for companies in the digital infrastructure industry, the opportunities that are now present are also increasing for some of the digital infrastructure companies.

Investor Interest Remains High

The strong subscription and subsequent listing of ESDS Software Solutions show the high level of investor interest in ESDS. The company’s position in artificial intelligence, cloud technology, cybersecurity, and data centres is a reason why the market is interested in its growth prospects.

But a good listing does not guarantee that the company will keep showing the same performance. Investors look at financial performance, revenue growth, profitability, valuations, and future expansion after a big debut.

Now the company faces the challenge of converting investor hunger for its IPO into performance as a listed company.

As far as IPO investors are concerned, ESDS Software's debut was a huge one. The company has received a 76.46% premium on the NSE and a 73.96% premium on the BSE, making it one of the best market debuts and demonstrating that investors are looking at companies that are working in the tech, cloud infrastructure, and digitalisation space.
